Free group workouts in downtown Raleigh

Nourish, a downtown Raleigh nutrition club whose mission is to get folks fit by focusing 80 percent on nutrition and 20 percent on exercise, offers free group workouts every week.

The workouts take place each Tuesday at 6 p.m. and most Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. (monitor their Facebook page for schedule changes).

Chuck Belden, a personal wellness coach at Nourish, says hundreds of people have participated in the workouts, working together “to improve their health and build a healthy active community.”

Belden says the workouts take place year-round, “even in less than awesome weather.” The sessions are open to all ages and abilities (but kids younger than 14 should be accompanied by a parent), and there’s a special workout for moms with strollers on Saturdays.

Just meet at Nourish – 18 Seaboard Ave, Suite 120, Raleigh – 15 minutes before the workout is scheduled to start. Bring a water bottle and yoga mat or beach towel for ground work. After each workout, there’s a brief talk about meal planning and healthy eating habits.
