New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 7 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Rimando had an incredible performance in RSL's 1-0 win over Portland Timbers at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday. The U.S. international made a total of three saves, two in the last five minutes of the match, to keep the Claret-and- Cobalt undefeated in 2014.

Rimando, who missed RSL's past two matches due to injury, has 111 career shutouts, just one shy of tying retired GK Kevin Hartman for the all-time MLS record.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
