Middle Creek moves to No. 1 in The News & Observer softball rankings following losses by previous No. 1 Apex and No. 2 South Johnston.

Middle Creek is 11-1, with a 2-1 loss to Apex. Apex slips to No. 4 after losing to Fuquay-Varina 7-4. South Johnston makes a big fall to No. 12 following a 6-1 loss to Princeton
