Duke senior Haley Peters signs with WNBA's Washington Mystics

— Duke senior Haley Peters signed a training camp contract with the Washington Mystics and will report for training camp that starts Sunday.

A native of Red Bank, N.J., Peters averaged 11.2 points a tied for team-best with 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 31 games for the Blue Devils this season. She got All-ACC tournament second team, Capital One Academic All-America and All-ACC academic team honors during the year.

A 6-foot-3 standout, she closed her career with 826 rebounds over four years, which ranks sixth all-time on the Duke charts. She also had 1,367 points to stand 16th overall in the Blue Devils record books.

Peters will join former Duke All-America Monique Currie on the Mystics squad, which will open the season May 16 against champion Minnesota.


Duke: The latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index lists three Duke women in the top 11 of the national rankings, following the Blue Devils claiming their 19th overall ACC championship during the weekend. Freshman Yu Liu is fourth, sophomore Celine Boutier is sixth and senior Laetitia Beck is 11th.


High Point: The High Point (10-5, 6-0 Big South) women’s team jumped out to an 8-0 lead in Monday night’s 19-5 win over Campbell (7-8, 2-5). Senior Mackenzie Carroll led the Panthers with five points on two goals and three assists, and sophomore Allie Foard notched four points on a hat trick and an assist.
