John Dendy: Civility in action

April 24, 2014

Many thanks to Sarah Preston of the ACLU and Ted Lindsley of Olaeris for their joint April 23 Point of View “ Act quickly to regulate drones in North Carolina.”

It’s all too rare in these days of uncivil discourse that reasonable people can work things out without name-calling, finger-pointing and other kinds of ugliness.

As a side note: Thirty years ago I organized an ad hoc team of execs from each division of McDonnell Douglas to write a joint report on the effect of unmanned aircraft technology on the corporation’s future business. It wasn’t something the McDonnell family wanted to hear, so the report gathered dust rather than interest or concern. (McDonnell Douglas was sold to Boeing in 1997.)
