Motorcyclist dies in accident on Davis Drive in Durham

— The rider of a motorcycle was killed Friday morning when he failed to stop for a stop light and hit a tractor-trailer truck on Davis Drive near Interstate 40, according to the State Highway Patrol.

Troopers have not released the name of the motorcyclist while they work to notify the rider’s family.

The accident took place at about 9:30 a.m.

A tractor-trailer truck driven by Kevin Shearin of Nashville was traveling south on Davis Drive and made a left turn onto the entrance ramp to eastbound I-40, according to the Highway Patrol. The Honda motorcycle was traveling north on Davis Drive and struck the side of the truck’s trailer.

Investigators closed the access ramp from Davis Drive to I-40 eastbound and closed southbound Davis Drive.
