Two Raleigh Boy Scouts earn Eagle rank

Matthew Gwinn and Kyle Nixon, both of Raleigh, have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting.

For his Eagle project, Matthew led the construction of seven benches to create an amphitheater and outdoor classroom at Raleigh’s Optimist Park. Matthew is a member of Troop 104 with the Raleigh Elks Lodge. He is the son of Kathy Dew Gwinn and Mike Gwinn and is a sophomore at Raleigh Charter High School.

For Kyle’s Eagle project, he designed and built a display kiosk at Umstead State Park’s Camp Lapihio to educate campers about the site’s history.

Kyle is a member of Troop 376 with Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church. He is the son of Robyn and Ken Nixon and is a sophomore at Sanderson High School in Raleigh.
