Kevin Riley: Our amazing parks

April 29, 2014

In one afternoon, I was able to walk alongside a beautiful river, swim in a refreshingly cool lake, smell the intoxicating scent of pine trees and witness the emergence of many wildflowers and trees as the warmer weather finally sets in. Experiences like this one are readily available in North Carolina, thanks to our park system.

I do worry about the future of our fantastic parks. These parks need to be maintained so that they can continue to serve as locations for experiencing the wonders of nature. A number of state senators and representatives were invited to join this hike day to show support for the parks, but none was able to attend.

I would like to strongly encourage them and anyone else who enjoys the outdoors to continue to support our amazing parks.
