Thunderstorm threat diminishes in Triangle; showers may remain

From staff reportsMay 1, 2014

— More rain, but mostly quiet rain, marked the Thursday forecast as a cold front pushed away this week's storm system.

The National Weather Service forecast ranged from a 30 percent chance of rain in Orange County to 60 percent in Johnston County. The eastern side of the Triangle may have some more thunderstorms.

Friday might bring more showers, but those were expected to be mostly to the south and east of the Triangle.

Skies should finally begin to clear overnight Friday and lead to a partly sunny Saturday and a mostly sunny Sunday, forecasters said.
