Whisk is hosting a canning jubilee on May 17.

Whisk, a kitchenwares store and cooking school in Cary, is hosting an all-day canning event on May 17.

They will be selling all canning supplies at a 20 percent discount and the store staff will be doing free demos and offering samples.

Plus, they are hosting a canning contest for experienced canners. Here are the details: there are two categories, jellies, jams and preserves; and pickled vegetables. Entries are free. Canned goods must have been done within the last year, made with North Carolina produce and dropped off at Whisk by 6 p.m. May 16. Winners will be announced on May 19 on the store’s Facebook page. First place winners will receive an 18-quart canning pot that sells for $60, second place winners will win $30 worth of canning supplies and third place winners will get a $15 Whisk gift certificates.
