Bryzgalov to start for Wild in Game 1

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The revolving door in the Minnesota crease has turned once more.

With Darcy Kuemper listed as-day-to-day thanks to an undisclosed injury which caused him to leave late in regulation of Wednesday's Game 7 overtime victory in Denver, Ilya Bryzgalov will start in Game 1 of Friday's second-round series against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Kuemper departed after allowing four goals on 21 shots, and with the Wild trailing the Avalanche 4-3, but Bryzgalov stepped in to snag the victory thanks to stopping the only shot he faced in 13:15 of action.

Nino Niederreiter ended the game and the series with his OT marker 5:02 in, helping Minnesota advance past the first round for the first time in 11 years.

Wild head coach Mike Yeo confirmed that John Curry will serve as Bryzgalov's backup in the opener.
