Raleigh man pleads guilty to videotaping child in NC State Fair restroom

From staff reportsMay 5, 2014

— A 31-year-old Raleigh man could spend the next 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to videotaping a child using the restroom last year at the N.C. State Fair.

Paul Fantz pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Raleigh.

Someone saw Fantz at the State Fair attempting to videotape the child and contacted Wake County sheriff’s deputies. The officers stopped and questioned Fantz, who admitted to the criminal act, according to prosecutors.

He was arrested, and sheriff’s investigators obtained a search warrant for his IPhone and laptop computer. The deputies found at least 100 videos of boys urinating and discovered another 100 videos of child pornography on his laptop, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Fantz’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
