FBI asks public’s help in tracking down ‘Eyes Only’ bank robber

From staff reportsMay 7, 2014

The FBI said it hopes the public help identify this man, nicknamed the “Eyes Only Bandit” after bank robberies in Zebulon, Spring Hope and Franklinton since mid-December.

— The FBI’s North Carolina office is working with police in Zebulon, Spring Hope and Franklinton to find a man they call the “Eyes Only Bandit” who robbed PNC bank branches in Zebulon and Spring Hope and the same First Citizens Bank branch in Franklinton twice.

The man got the nickname because in each heist he wore a hood and a scarf over his mouth and nose, leaving only his eyes visible.

The robber showed a small semiautomatic handgun during two of the four stickups.

The FBI asked the public’s help in finding the man, saying that anyone with information that might help call the FBI at 704-672-6100 or East Wake Crimestoppers 919-366-2746.

The robber is described as a light-skinned black man, approximately 20 to 35 years of age, standing 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall with a medium build.

The robbery string began Dec. 16 at the PNC Bank at 300 N. Arendell Ave. in Zebulon.

The man then hit the PNC branch at 102 E. Branch St. in Spring Hope on Jan. 10 and the First Citizens Bank at 101 N. Main St. in Franklinton on Feb. 26 and March 13.
