Crash in Durham ties up I-40 eastbound near Barbee Road

Traffic backs up on eastbound Interstate 40 near Fayetteville Road in Durham after an accident near the Barbee Road overpass closed two of three lanes.

N.C. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

— A multi-car crash on eastbound Interstate 40 near the Barbee Road overpass closed two of three lanes and backed up traffic, the state Department of Transportation said.

There were no immediate reports of any serious injuries.

The crash closed the left and right lanes of the highway, the state DOT said.

The accident happened shortly after 8 a.m.

A preliminary report said three cars were involved.
