Man killed by freight train on Durham tracks

— A man was killed when he was struck by a freight train Monday afternoon, according to the Durham Police Department.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was walking along the tracks near Pettigrew and Dillard streets when he was hit by the eastbound train at about 4 p.m, according to police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police warned of traffic delays at the nearby intersections of Pettigrew, Dillard, Ramseur and Fayetteville streets.
