Miami’s Dale Carey and North Carolina’s Parks Jordan are the ACC Baseball Players of the Week, and Clemson’s Daniel Gossett is ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Jordan hit safely in all five games and finished with 10 hits in 19 at-bats (.526) as the Tar Heels won three games, including a victory over No. 4 Florida State. The Winston-Salem senior started at three different positions during the week – left field, second base and first base – and either scored or drove in a run in all five games.
Jordan finished a homer short of the cycle at Elon on Wednesday, driving in three runs. In Sunday’s 5-4 win over Florida State, Jordan scored the winning run in the seventh when he legged out an infield single and took third on a sacrifice fly.
Three members of the Duke team have earned Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-South Region recognition. Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer and senior defender Taylor Virden garnered first team honors while junior midfielder Taylor Trimble appeared on the second team.
Virden received the third all-region selection of her career while Maurer and Trimble were honored for the second consecutive season.
After earning victories in the first and second round of the NCAA championship over the weekend, Duke faces a quarterfinal meeting with top seed Maryland on Saturday at noon in College Park, Md.
N.C. State coach Tim Santoro announced the addition of Karina Lacey, who will be immediately eligible.
Saint Augustine’s sophomore sensation Daja White was selected to the Daktronics Atlantic Region First Team, which makes her eligible for All-America honors.
