If youve been hiding your bass desires or your sax appeal, now is the time to come out of the closet.
In other words, the Triangle Corporate Battle of the Bands is once again seeking corporate bands no, its not an oxymoron to compete for fun and glory and a good cause.
This year the proceeds from the event, sponsored by Durham advertising agency McKinney, will go to the Urban Ministries of Durham. The organization shelters about 140 people nightly and serves 600 meals per day; its Clothing Closet and Food Pantry services help 450 households each month.
To compete in the competition, bands must have between three and 10 members, most of whom have to be on the company payroll. The registration fee is $2,000 through Aug. 1, then goes up to $2,500.
This years competition will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. Past competitions have raised more than $650,000 for local charities.
