Raleigh man sentenced to nearly 16 years for child pornography

— A Raleigh man was sentenced Wednesday to nearly 16 years in prison on a child pornography charge in federal court here, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of N.C.

The Cary Police Department homed in on Wallace Edwin Perry Jr., 28, during an investigation in 2012 of child-porn sharing networks, according to the attorney’s office. A search found more than 20,000 pornographic images of children on a computer owned by Perry possession, according to the attorney’s office.

Perry was charged with receipt of child pornography and pleaded guilty to the felony in February 2014, according to the attorney’s office. He was sentenced Wednesday to 188 months, or about 15.5 years, in prison and 15 years supervised release, the attorney’s office said in a release.
