Hillary Clintons supporters are hosting an event in Durham next month to raise money for her potential White House bid in 2016.
The super PAC Ready for Hillary is seeking hosts to donate at the $2,500 level with individual guests paying $100 a ticket for the June 9 fundraiser at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel, according to an invitation.
The event is the first outward sign of Clinton allies organizing support in North Carolina for her potential presidential campaign.
Craig Smith, a senior adviser to the committee and a former White House political director for President Bill Clinton, will speak at the event.
The organization raised more than $4 million in 2013 and $1.7 million in the first three months of 2014, according to federal records.
A forward-looking Public Policy Polling survey this month found Clinton deadlocked against Republicans Rand Paul and Jeb Bush in North Carolina and leading Chris Christie and Mike Huckabee by slim margins in hypothetical match ups.
