RALEIGH — Three people died after their vehicle crashed into a building and burst into flames in downtown Rocky Mount early Friday morning.
Officers arrived at the 500 block of South Grace Street at about 1:50 a.m. to find a vehicle had left the roadway, struck a building and “was fully engulfed in flames,” according to the Rocky Mount Police Department.
When firefighters extinguished the fire, emergency responders found three bodies inside. Police have not publicly identified the victims.
A preliminary investigation found no other vehicles were involved, nor was anyone else injured. The police department was trying to determine the cause of the crash on Friday afternoon.
