Damage but no injuries in reported shootout at Durham apartments

From staff reportsMay 23, 2014

— People in two cars were apparently having a shootout at an apartment complex late Thursday, resulting in a bullet into an apartment window, holes in two cars and a bystander with a car smashed by one of the other two.

Police got a call about 11:15 p.m. when one of the shooters’ cars, a Ford Mustang, smashed into a Chevrolet that was not involved at the Oxford Manor apartments at Old Oxford Road and Dearborn Drive, spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

The people in the Mustang ran away after the crash, Michael said, and the car with the other shooters had fled the area.

No one was hurt in the apartments, police said, and the driver of the Chevrolet was treated at the scene and released.

Police said they would like anyone with information about the incident to call CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.

CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
