Cary teen charged with leaving beagle in hot car

From staff reportsMay 26, 2014

— An 18-year-old girl was arrested Saturday for leaving her dog closed up for more than 30 minutes in the Volkswagen she had been driving.

Bianca Lucia Roels, of 112 Padgett Court, is charged one misdemeanor count of conveying animal in a cruel manner, according to an arrest warrant filed Monday at the Wake County Magiatrate’s Office.

Roels was booked into the Wake County jail Saturday, then released into the custody of her father a short time later, a jail spokeswoman reported on Monday.

Investigators have accused Roels of parking a Volkswagen she was driving and then leaving the dog inside. At the time, the temperature was about 76 degrees outside the Volkswagen, but the interior was heated by “direct sunlight” and exceeded 120 degrees, court records show.

Roels answered the phone at her parent’s Cary home Monday, but declined to comment on her arrest.
