Pedestrian hit by car on Western Boulevard in Raleigh

— A pedestrian who police suspect was intoxicated was struck by a car on Western Boulevard near Kent Road early Wednesday when he was crossing the street away from a crosswalk, police said.

Eric M. McMillian, 41, of 219 Parkland Road in Raleigh was listed in fair condition Wednesday morning at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh.

A police report of the accident said he was thrown about 21 feet when a car traveling at approximately 33 miles an hour hit him. The report said police suspect McMillian had been drinking.

The accident happened shortly before 1 a.m.

Hicham Hadrach, 24 of 5509 Creek Ridge in Raleigh was driving a 2002 Jaguar east on Western Boulevard when McMillian was crossing from the left side of the road, police said.

No charges were filed against Hadrach.
