Tree closes road, knocks out lights near West Aycock Street in Raleigh

From staff reportsMay 28, 2014

— Police have closed a section of West Aycock Street and power lights are out on Wade Avenue and St. Marys Street due to a fallen tree.

The tree, or part of a tree, fell at about 1 p.m. across the 500 block of West Aycock Street, blocking the road and damaging utility poles and lines, according to police. The resulting power outages forced police to direct traffic at intersections near Five Points.

Police urged motorists to drive with caution in the area.
