Crash closes eastbound lanes of I-40 near Wade Avenue

— A series of traffic crashes could significantly delay commuters on Interstate 40 on Thursday evening. The N.C. Department of Transportation reported westbound crashes near exits 273 and 294 and an eastbound crash near Exit 289 around 5 p.m.

Most of the crashes were contained to the shoulder, but one shut down two eastbound lanes of Wade Avenue at about 5 p.m., resulting in serious delays west of Raleigh, according to the department.
