Raleigh Charter High junior recognized for writing in regional contest

Arya Sundaram, an 11th-grader at Raleigh Charter High School, earned a Regional Gold Key, two Regional Silver Keys and an honorable mention for her submissions to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

The national competition recognizes excellence in the arts.

The annual competition receives more than 200,000 submissions from seventh- to 12th-graders.

Arya of Cary submitted poems “Spinal Chord” and “Charged.” She submitted “Wide Eyed and Barely Six Years Old” as a script and a short story that was inspired by a mixture of odd things she encountered and what she’s learned.
