Melissa Nicole Burton and David Michael Ragan, Jr. were married May 17, 2014 at five o’clock in the evening at The Oaks at Salem in Apex. Dr. Joseph Welker, Jr officiated the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception also at The Oaks at Salem. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at 18 Seaboard in Raleigh.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Philip Hux Burton of Raleigh and Mrs. Brenda Hardman Hang of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Sarah Truslow of Raleigh and the late Mr. Denver Hardman of Willow Spring.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. David Michael Ragan, Sr. of Cary. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard William Stephens of Raleigh and Mrs. Gloria Wilson Ragan and the late Mr. John Charles Ragan of Raleigh.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The matron of honor was the sister of the bride, Heather Thorpe of Raleigh and the maid of honor was Sarah Buster of Raleigh. Other bridal attendants were Cady Mack Clements of Philadelphia, Jessica Dobyns, Natalie Tilley and Diana Walker all of Raleigh. Cousin of the bride, Cooper Cox of Raleigh served as the flower girl.

Dr. David Michael Ragan, Sr, of Cary, father of the groom, served as the best man. Additional groomsmen were Mark Saine of Chicago, Steven Harriott, Jr. of Charlotte, Nicholas Bradley, Gregory Cols and James Fair all of Raleigh. Cousin of the bride, Connor Fachorn of Willow Spring served as the ring bearer.

The scripture reader was the sister of the groom, Christina Stone of Sanford and the program attendants were cousins of the bride, Abby Cox and Katherine Cox both of Raleigh.

The bride is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology. She is employed as a Research Associate at KBI Biopharma Inc. The groom graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering. He is employed as a Bridge Designer at HNTB Corporation.

After a honeymoon trip to Antigua, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
