Senn Dunn Insurance, the state’s largest independent insurance agency, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Marsh & McLennan Agency.

Senn Dunn, which is based in Greensboro, also has offices in Raleigh, Charlotte, High Point and Wilmington. Founded in 1927, Senn Dunn has 155 employees and annual revenue of about $30 million. It provides property/casualty insurance and employee benefit services to individuals and businesses.

All of Senn Dunn’s employees, including CEO T. Gray McCaskill, are joining Marsh & McLennan’s mid-Atlantic region. The offices will remain in their current locations.

Joining Marsh & McLennan “is an excellent opportunity to expand our reach, ensuring new opportunities for our associates and more resources for our clients,” McCaskill said in a news release.

Marsh & McLennan, headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., is a subsidiary of giant insurance broker Marsh and focuses on working with midsize businesses. Marsh itself is a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, which has 54,000 employees worldwide.

In 2012, Marsh & McLennan acquired Progressive Benefit Solutions, a Raleigh employee benefits agencies with 20 employees in Raleigh and Wilson.
