Curt Albright: USDA failing with food safety

June 3, 2014

Thank you so much for publishing Bruce Friedrich’s May 29 Point of View article “ USDA failing humane killing mandate.” I find it appalling that the USDA would drop the ball with regard to food safety and animal cruelty issues. Food contamination, animals being shot execution-style and unsanitary conditions in our processing plants are issues that affect all of us and our families.

Instead of pushing for “ag-gag” legislation, the Chamber of Commerce should be helping residents learn more about where our food comes from and how it is processed. The meat industries already enjoy a lack of scrutiny and oversight!
