GQ magazine names Durham one of America's Best College Towns (When the Students Are Gone)

From staff reportsJune 5, 2014

— GQ magazine lists Durham as one of America’s Best College Towns (When the Students Are Gone).

“Even if you spend every March sticking pins in a Coach K voodoo doll, you'll find at least two compelling reasons to visit Durham in summer,” the magazine ( gqm.ag/UeHCFu) says.

“One, you can score a good rate at the Washington Duke Inn, an old-school luxury hotel on the university golf course. Two, you'll feast at every meal. The southern table shows its genius in the height of the summer growing season, and scrappy Durham has become an unlikely front-runner for the South's most interesting dining town.”

The Bull City made the list along with Athens, Ga.; Madison, Wisc.; Columbus, Ohio; Austin, Texas; Ithaca, N.Y.; Boulder, Colo.; and Berkeley, Calif.
