Martha Brock: Meaningful facts of violent acts

June 6, 2014

The recent headlines and news about the mass murders in California are disturbing, and they have been used by the NRA and others to scapegoat once again those with mental illness.

Thanks for pointing out in the May 31 Notable Numbers on your editorial page that only 4 percent of violent acts in the United States are committed by persons with a mental illness. We need facts like these more often.
