Millbrook High, a N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A semifinalist, leads the 2014 The News & Observer All-Metro baseball team.

Millbrook pitchers Alex Royalty and Gunner Deal were incredible during the Wildcats’ N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A playoff run. They combined to throw six consecutive complete-game victories. Brian Miller, who hit .416, got a hot bat late in the year to propel Millbrook to the state 4A semifinals.

Sanderson topped Millbrook in the Cap Eight 4A regular season behind the pitching of Daniel Dulaney, who did not allow an earned run during conference play.

Green Hope was the top-ranked team in the area for most of the year and placed pitcher Troy Maslowski and catcher Thomas Yoder on the all-star squad.

South Johnston relied on its offense during its charge to the NCHSAA 3A semifinals.

Chatham Central finished with a 10-11 record, but Zack Burke had nine games with 10 strikeouts or more and finished with 134 strikeouts this season.
