Morrisville police add new child sex charges against man, 44

From staff reportsJune 10, 2014

— Morrisville police Monday added child-sex charges to ones they filed against Shawn Torre Walters when they arrested him on May 30.

Walters, 44, of 702 Walnut Woods Drive in Morrisville, was served with an arrest warrant at the Wake County Detention Center, where he has been in custody since his first arrest.

The latest warrant accuses Walters of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and taking indecent liberties with a child.

Police had charged Walters with five counts of taking indecent liberties, saying in arrest warrants that all the incidents happened last month.

The new offenses happened between March 15 and April 15 and involved having a 13-year-old engage in a sexual activity so he could be photographed, the warrant stated.

The latest charges involve the same youth, police said.

Walters’ bail was raised to $750,000 with the new charges.

A magistrate had written when Walters was first arrested that he was a flight risk and a danger to the victim if he were released.

Walters was due in court Tuesday on the new charges.
