June Thames: (Lottery) ticket to nowhere

June 13, 2014

Regarding the June 11 news article “ House, Senate budgets clash”: I had to laugh. When we think politicians have come up with the dumbest ideas possible, they always top the one before.

Increasing spending on advertising for lottery tickets to make more people purchase tickets? The people who buy tickets will continue to buy tickets without any incentive; those who do not buy tickets will continue to ignore this venue.

The teachers will not gain anything from this ill-formulated plan. I think the winners are the coffers of the legislators as the lobbyists for the lottery smile for the cameras!
