Leef Cooper Edition USB flash drives: The Magnet 3.0, Ice 3.0 and tiny Surge 2.0.

USB flash drives seem to be more common than paperclips, and tend to be about as bland as a paperclip, too. Leef has recently launched a trio of USB flash drives with a focus on style.

Capacities for the Leef Copper Edition flash drives range from 16GB to 64GB capacities. Leef says they are waterproof, shockproof, and dust proof.

The slim Leef Magnet 3.0: Copper Edition has a magnetic cap and an LED affixed to the end that illuminates when plugged in. It is listed for a suggested retail price of $19.99 for the 16GB model, $32.99 for the 32GB model and $59.99 for the 64GB model.

The Leef Ice 3.0: Copper Edition has a larger acrylic “crystal” for greater glow and carries a suggested retail price of $18.99 for the 16GB model and $29.99 for the 32GB model. The pricing for the 64GB model will be announced upon availability.

Much tinier than its 3.0 siblings, the Leef Surge 2.0: Copper Edition is the smallest of the three. The tiny profile makes it unobtrusive enough to leave plugged in all the time. It priced at $14.99 for the 16GB model, $24.99 for the 32GB model and $49.99 for the 64GB model.

Performance may not top any benchmark comparisons, but they are cool. If the copper look doesn't suit your taste, Leef has a range of flash drives in a variety of finishes. It took me 80 seconds to copy a 1GB file a 64GB Leef Surge 2.0 drive. Oddly, it took 69 seconds to transfer the same file to the Ice 3.0 and 97 seconds to the Magnet 3.0. My old 8GB Patriot Rage XT took just 42 seconds.

Leef Copper Edition products are at www.2leef.com and on Amazon. The Leef Magnet 3.0: Copper Edition 16GB will be available at RadioShack.
