Ive been rounding up an array of portable Bluetooth speakers and the first two have arrived. The JBL Clip and the JBL Flip 2 both have a built-in rechargeable battery and use Bluetooth 4.0. Each also have mics so they can also be used as a speakerphone.
The $49.95 lightweight Clip gets its name from the integrated carabiner that can hook to a loop on clothing or a bag. JBL says the Clip has a 1.5 driver and a 160 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 5 hours listening. The JBL Clip also has an integrated 3.5 mm cable.
The larger, but still very portable Flip 2 provides more oomph with two drivers with a 100Hz 20KHz frequency range. Its built-in rechargeable battery also provides up to 5 hours listening. It doesn't have an integrated audio cable like the Clip, but it does have a 3.5mm port. It comes with a carrying case, a USB to micro USB cable and a USB wall charger. The Flip 2 is priced at $99.95.
Both are good performers delivering pleasant audio beyond what their size would suggest. Ive found both well worth their cost. Ill save the details for the round up, but they are two of the best in their price range.
