The number of passengers departing from Raleigh-Durham International Airport increased 4.4 percent in May compared with the same month last year.

It was the third consecutive month that traffic has increased at the airport.

A total of 436,051 passengers departed RDU in May. The number of passengers arriving at the airport last month was 427,600, up 4.8 percent.

“After a slow beginning to the year due to the inclement weather our region experienced, we are seeing growth in the number of passengers traveling through RDU,” said RDU President and CEO Mike Landguth in a statement. “The spring break travel period kicked off in March, and the momentum we gained continues as we head into the summer travel season.”
