CHAPEL HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT

— A Durham man faces charges in Orange County in connection with a shooting on East Franklin Street early Sunday.

Police said they arrested Ladarren Deshawn Parker, 18, of North Angier Avenue, Durham, shortly after they found Steven Charles Moore Jr. wounded.

Police had been dispatched at about 2:40 a.m. because, 911 operators were told, there was a fight going on in the street.

Moore was taken to UNC Hospitals, but was not believed to have life-threatening wounds, police said in a statement.

Parker, whom spokesman Lt. Joshua Mecimore said was found a short distance away, was charged with inflicting serious injury in an assault with a deadly weapon.

He was being held in the Orange County Jail in Hillsborough in lieu of $15,000 bail, Mecimore said.
