Woman accused of killing Durham man in 2012

From staff reportsJune 24, 2014

— A woman already serving time in the state prison for women in Raleigh was indicted Monday on charges that she murdered a Durham man in 2012.

Crystal Brandi Fox is accused of killing Donald Watson Sr. at his home at 4424 Regis Ave. on July 9, 2012. An autopsy determined that Watson, 74, died from a beating to the head and had several cuts to his face and scalp.

Fox, 41, was convicted in January 2013 of possessing or distributing materials to make methamphetamine. She was sentenced to a minimum of 1 year 7 months in prison.

Authorities have not said what led them to seek Monday’s grand jury indictment against Fox. Durham police say their investigation of Watson’s death is not complete.
