Joyce Reiter: Grow up, Apodaca

June 27, 2014

Regarding the June 25 Under the Dome article “ Apodaca: ‘We could get mad and go home’ ”: How juvenile is Sen. Tom Apodaca’s statement?

Maybe if North Carolina teachers left their classrooms and their students unattended, respect for the profession and value for what teachers do on a daily basis might magically appear. As stated in the the old expression: “You never know what you’ve lost until it’s gone.” Fortunately, educators are too caring and mature to take such an action.

How old is Apodaca? He needs to grow up and realize these issues are bigger than his ego, and he needs to work harder for the futures of our youth and the nation, just like educators have been doing for years. Perhaps enrolling in a class to learn about the “public service” part of his job description would be prudent.
