Raleigh man faces charges of attempted sex offense with a child

June 29, 2014

— Police on Friday accused a Raleigh man of an attempted sex offense with a seven year-old child.

Investigators have charged James Edward Gregg, 44, of 3237 Ward Road in Raleigh with one felony count each of attempted first degree sex offense and indecent liberties with a child, according to an arrest warrant filed at the Wake County Magistrate’s Office.

Officers think the offenses occurred on May 10 and May 11, according to the arrest warrant.

Investigators think Gregg attempted to “forcibly and against the child’s will,” engage in a sex offense with the juvenile.

Gregg has also been accused of committing “a lewd and lascivious act upon the body” of the child, court records show.

The Raleigh man remained in custody Sunday at the Wake County jail. He is being held under a $500,000 bail, court records show.
