Children’s cooking camps across the Triangle

Several local cooking schools offer cooking classes for children to keep them occupied in the summer months. Here are a few options:

• Sur la Table at The Streets of Southpoint in Durham has a “Baking around the World” camp next week for children at 10 a.m. Monday-Friday and for teens at 2 p.m. Monday-Friday. (This camp repeats Aug. 4-8.) From July 21-25, there is a “Science in the Kitchen” camp at 10 a.m. Monday-Friday for children and at 2 p.m. Monday-Friday for teens. The weeklong camps costs $250. Call 1-800-243-0852 to reserve a spot.

• C’est si Bon cooking school in Chapel has themed week-long camps all summer long. Upcoming themes for children ages 8-14 include New World Kitchen, Asian Kitchen and Provencale Kitchen. Prices range from $250-$350. Details: cestsibon.net.

• Southern Season in Chapel Hill offers two-hour classes for children at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each week is a different theme. The classes cost $30 each. Here are a few upcoming courses: Eating in Italy, Tuesday and Thursday; Eating in Thailand, July 15 and July 17; Eating in India, July 22 and July 24; Eating in Mexico, July 29 and 31; Southern cooking, Aug. 5 and Aug. 7.
