Hot, dry weather moves into Triangle for a few days

From staff reportsJuly 7, 2014

— Heat will return to the Triangle on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the late week brings a return to the standard summer forecast of possible afternoon and evening showers or thunderstorms.

Forecasters see highs in the low to mid-90s across the area for the first three days, then in the upper 80s with a 50 percent chance of rain Thursday and Friday.

While it will be hot, temperatures are not forecast to be anywhere close to the July 7 and 8 records set two years ago – 102 and 105, respectively – or Wednesday’s 101 in 1999.
