Kermit Copley: Not Sharia law

July 7, 2014

Regarding your July 1 editorial “ Hobby Lobby ruling expands corporate rights”: Just as sure as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, you and Democratic leaders immediately decried the Supreme Court’s decision. Because of this decision, all women might not get all possible contraceptive options and have them paid for by the U.S. taxpayers. You will not acknowledge that only four out of 20 contraceptive options were being contested.

If you believe the Democrats, you would think this very limited judicial decision was the equivalent to instituting Sharia law in the United States. But if my president were as incompetent and as unpopular as President Obama is, then I would beat my drums and yell, “War on women,” too. Especially when this hyperbole appeals to the low information voters who make up the majority of the Democratic Party.
