Regarding the July 9 Point of View “ The problems with public money, private purpose”: The Rev. Vernon Tyson nailed it perfectly. Tax money has no business subsidizing religious education, especially when considering the significant needs of public education.
The only thing he missed was the “camel’s nose under the tent.” The next step will likely adjust income levels to allow the well-off access to vouchers that can subsidize tuition at expensive private schools. The courts should invalidate the current law on vouchers.
