Durham man arrested on shooting charge

— Police have arrested a Durham man suspected of shooting another man in the leg.

Investigators say Tony Maurice Jones, 25, fired a weapon at a 36-year-old man in a vehicle at about 6 p.m. June 16. The man was injured and a second vehicle was damaged, police say.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Angier Avenue and Bingham Street, according to police.

Jones, of Hardee Street, was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, county records state.

Jones was held Wednesday at the Durham County Jail on $600,000 bond, county records state.
