Fred Gerkens: Blame loopholes

Regarding the July 10 editorial “ Tax flight”: I don’t agree with your claim that Salix’s use of tax law to lower its U.S. taxes is a disgrace. It would be a disgrace for its CEO not to take advantage of the current tax laws, as we all do in listing exemptions on our yearly tax forms.

The real question should be which of our senators and representatives sponsored and voted for those loopholes that benefit these corporations.
