Bill Palmer: The Fourth focus

July 10, 2014

I am in favor of political correctness as much as the next guy, but the conflation of Memorial Day and Martin Luther King Day into a political cartoon for the Fourth of July was to miss entirely the point of the celebration, which is, in case it needs to be pointed out, the anniversary of the public declaration of independence of the United States from England. This is why it is known as Independence Day.
