Donald Prush: Net jobs

July 11, 2014

A July 6 article in your Business section was praising the administration for the June employment numbers, which increased by 288,000 jobs and represented an increase for the past five months. What the article neglected to state was that the increase was a net number resulting from the loss of approximately 500,000 full-time jobs and the gain of approximately 800,000 part-time jobs. I do not view this as good news.

President Obama’s economic policies, such as Obamacare, are causing the tremendous loss of full-time employment and benefits associated with full-time employment. Furthermore, those people who were shifted to part-time most likely need to supplement their lost income with such items as food stamps and other government handouts from a Treasury that is already $17 trillion in debt and still counting.

I wish the media would furnish all the facts.
