Raleigh couple charged with taking indecent liberties with preteen

From staff reportsJuly 15, 2014

— A man and woman who share an apartment face charges from Raleigh police of taking indecent liberties with a child in April.

Police arrested Corey Andrew Shearin, 24, Monday evening at the Glenwood Village Shopping Center, where he is listed as working at a Harris Teeter grocery store.

Jacqueline Michelle Cannady, 22, was arrested Monday afternoon at their apartment at 3255 Calumet Drive, records showed.

In addition to the indecent liberties charge, Shearin was accused of three counts of first-degree sexual offense with the child, who is described in arrest warrants as being less than 13 years old.

Cannady was charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties.

Police spokesman Laura Hourigan said the victim knew Shearin and Cannady, but she declined to give the victim’s gender in order to protect the child’s identity.

Arrest warrants said the incidents happened between April 1 and April 19.

Shearin was ordered held on $750,000 bail. Cannady’s bail was set at $20,000.

Both were scheduled for court appearances Tuesday.
